Dietary preferences changing

just wondering if anyone else is finding their dietary preferences/digestion is changing through perimenopause?

not sure if it’s perimenopause exactly, just age or something else health related entirely!??

there are a number of things that I can’t tolerate anymore - alcohol was the first, literally 1 glass of wine is all I can hack now; fatty foods now upset my stomach and now finding I’m going off meat! I’ve always enjoyed my food and meat has always been the star of the plate, but now I can’t think of anything better than a massive pile of veg and salads! Smaller and lighter is all I fancy for meals (of course with the occasional slab of chocolate for good measure- am not completely saintly!)

It’s a blessing really with the peri meno belly getting bouncier by the day, but just find it strange that my appetite has really altered! How would hormones do this to me if that’s what it is??

Anyone else?!

Alcohol started to upset my gut when i was in my thirties. im teetotal Im now 52 and have had digestive problems for the last three years Could be BAM ( i have no gall bladder) but that was removed in 2003. When i was on HRT this time last year my shit was like sludge. Started Mini Pill four years ago and the digestive problems started the following year

@JenniferBooth thanks so much for this- I started taking a very low dose combined pill about 2 years ago as dr wouldn’t prescribe me HRT as my blood tests were ‘fine’ - never mind the fact I was losing my mind!! The pill has def helped my symptoms and would tie in with the time line my digestive health has changed too… I’m going to lose myself down a rabbit hole of reading about it now!

Yes. And in pregnancy I couldn’t drink coffee, it turned my stomach, even though it’s usually my favourite drink. A couple of years ago I had to stop having cows’ milk in coffee (it started tasting of cows) and this year have had to switch to oat milk in tea as well. I’m also finding the thought of veg much more appealing, to my husbands’ dismay.

I remember reading someone here asking if it was normal that now she was in peri menopause, a glass of wine gave her palpitations and she had had to give it up. For me, it's coffee - and I love coffee! 😭
I think it's normal to have changing tastes, and thank goodness yours are for the 'better', OP!

Just noticed the typo in that post making it look like I have multiple husbands 🤔😂
