Insect bites reaction

Has anyone else found they get a huge reaction to some insect bites during peri and if so did you resolve it/did it resolve itself? It's not so bad in the UK but when abroad if I get bitten I end up with massive welts, swelling etc that look like cellulitis but aren't - they're just a huge skin reaction. It started a few years ago when I hit 50. I take antihistamines for a couple of weeks before I go away and while I'm there and also use repellent, steroid and antihistamine creams but it still happens. I've had to take a course of steroids this time too because the swelling got unmanageable. Am I just doomed to have this happen every time I leave the country now?

Have you tried Avon Skin So Soft? Meant to be a really good repellant?

Maybe DEET spray to repel. It's strong stuff but may help?

Get a bite zapper from Beurer, stops the reaction before it has a chance to get going.
