thin, heavy period

51, periods have been extremely heavy for about a year, still regular but really bright in colour and very thin in consistency, like water. As a result, for about two days a month, I am totally exhausted. No other symptoms really - breasts tender, some bloating but not intolerable. Shouldn't this be easing off? Seems to be going in the other direction.....

Hmm, could be down to normal hormonal changes during peri (and most likely), but possibly something else.

Here's a link to a useful webpage: www.todaysparent.com/family/womens-health/period-blood-pouring-out-like-water/

"Heavy, watery period blood may feel like the norm for some, but should not be ignored as it can interfere with daily activities and may be a sign of a larger health issue.
Some of the conditions that can result in this kind of period blood include perimenopause, endometritis, and the postpartum period, as well as hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, and Von Willebrand disease."

Might be worth checking with your GP?
