I am on my second month of HRT using oestrogel daily and utrogestan tablets on days 15-28 of my cycle. All has been going ok apart from today my period has arrived early and I'm still due to take the tablets til Tuesday next week.

So does anyone know if I'm supposed to stop the tablets today or carry on with them til Tuesday? And when should I start taking them again? 15 days after day1 of my cycle (today) or 15 days after stopping? Help!

Keep taking the tablets until Tuesday and then start them again on the same date next month and so on, ie. if you started progesterone on 5 August, then start again 5 September, 5 October ...

My withdrawal bleed always started while I was taking progesterone not during the break.

I've been on cyclical hrt a few months and often find similar happens to me. My Dr wasn't concerned at all, she said as long as there's a withdrawal bleed she's happy.

Some of my cycles I've started the bleed on day 9 of ultrogestan (or thereabouts). And the other cycles it's come 3 or 4 days after stopping ultrogestan. Tbh, if it's not harming me, I much prefer getting the bleed out of the way sooner so I wish I knew what influenced this to happen!

Thank you, that’s really helpful. I don’t know why doctors (or my doctor at least) can’t explain this properly. Do they not understand they what it means to have a perimenopausal patient?! I really could have done with an explanation aimed at a five year old!!

It’s actually worked out quite well as I’m on holiday in the middle of next week so should hopefully be period free!!
