Started HRT Patches and Feel Worse!

I’ve been on the patches about a month now but nothing. No change in hot flushing at night. No change in anything else apart from feeling permanently pissed off and enraged. I was a relatively happy bunny before now I just cba with anything or anyone and still sweating and disturbed sleep. Is this normal? Do I need to stop using them?

Hm, I’d go back to your GP. When I read your thread title, I came on to say give it a few weeks but you clearly have.

You need to discuss it with whoever is managing your HRT care. Not every HRT option suits everyone one or every stage.

i was on sequential pills which worked well but due to bleeding was switched to the coil and gel - hate it. HRT nurse said give it 6 months and if you still hate it I’ll take it out and go back to pills.

it’s being removed next month!

Those symptoms sound like not enough estrogen. What patch did you start on?

sunshinechaser · 14/08/2025 20:26

It sounds as if you need a higher strength patch as your current strength isn’t managing your symptoms. What strength are you on?

Thanks for the replies. I didn’t know there was even a ‘strength’ of patch - I’ll have a look and see if I can see my GP. Do you think she’ll have expected me to have done the full 3 months initial box? She was quite snippy when she prescribed it! 😬
