Evorel 75 - so confused re progesterone

Can anyone explain this to me in language a toddler would understand?

GP instructions are to take the progesterone tablets for 2 weeks each month. She said to time it with my bleed. But my bleed is nothing like monthly anymore - so should I start after four oestrogen patches (the second “half” of a box) or randomly for two weeks after my bleed happens, and decouple from the patch schedule?

Online consensus seems to suggest taking for 12 days only instead of two weeks but also a bit opaque as to when to start.

And is it really necessary to take on an empty stomach - one hour before or two hours after food, and preferably at bedtime?

Im 50, and was on Sequi for a couple of years before asking to get more oestrogen as symptoms were returning. I wanted to go back to Sequi as I find this regime so confusing but the repeat prescription request was messed up and I’ve now got another three months of HRT to use up.

Sequi is made up of 2 different types of patch - oestrogen only or oestrogen + progestogen. What you have is the same - it’s just that instead of the oestrogen + progestogen patches, you’ll have oestrogen only patch + oral progesterone. So start taking P when you would otherwise have been using the combined patches.

And I take it last thing at night so I probably haven’t eaten for an hour or two anyway. It might affect how well it’s absorbed so if you’re a late night snacker, eat earlier! If you’ve eaten late occasionally, I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

MORE is absorbed if taken on a full stomach (not less.)

In words a toddler would understand- take the 12 days from the same DATE each month. This is guidance by the British Menopause Society.

It makes it far simpler.

It sets a cycle and you are not trying to fit it around your own wayward cycles.

Use your estrogen patches every day with no gap when they run out.
