Cysts in breast - can I carry on hrt?

I’ve been on hrt patches since Oct 23, Evorel Sequi. Since the beginning of this year I’ve had several cysts in my breast, had antibiotics the first time but the most recent two burst on their own. Now I’m getting another one. I’ve seen that women on hrt are more likely to get them, but I’m wondering if this means they’d want me to stop hrt? Has anyone else had this sort of problem? I’m going to book a dr appt as well.

Yes I got recalled from my first mammogram as my breasts had developed cysts. I stopped taking HRT due to this, and the fact it wasn’t really helping with my symptoms . The doctor who did my ultrasound said he sees this a lot with people on HRT.

Benign changes like cysts don't mean you need to stop HRT. Cysts are common in women before menopause as well as women using HRT.

However, they may be related to the dose so if they bother you one option is to reduce the dose of estrogen.

I’m prone to breast cyst too and have been for a long time pre menopause.I decided to stop HRT after speaking to the breast clinic consultant who explained that as you age your hormone levels fall and as a result cysts are less common in post menopausal women.Whereas if you are on HRT hormones levels don’t drop meaning that cysts continue to be an issue.
Despite stopping HRT I continue to have cysts. I’m aware that I’m losing the benefit of having it,
stopping HRT was my personal choice and I’m still unsure if I have made the right decision.

Thanks everyone. I do find the hrt helpful so I don’t really want to stop it but hopefully a tweak might make a difference.

I got cysts on oral HRT (Ellest duet), swapped to gel and oral progesterone (body identical) and no problems so far.

I’m worried about being swapped to a gel or something as I will just forget to put it on

The type of estrogen doesn't make any difference.
