Mirena coil and HRT -any advice?

Hi. I’m 53 and have been on HRT for seven years. I recently saw a GP as I’ve been on Femiston HRT for about 5 years, and was getting increasingly fed up with weight gain (I weight train 3 xweek, Pilates 2x week, yoga at least 1xweek and regularly walk, eat healthily etc and cannot lose even 1lb on an inch!). I have always had mild periods during this time, irregular and not painful or anything. I had also noticed recently that my mental clarity and concentration was lacking, so though maybe it was time to change my HRT.
The Gp arranged for me to have internal scans, as he said I shouldn’t be having any bleeding at all. The results were all chest, thankfully. I’m now due to have a biopsy on my uerturus lining just to be sure, and he’s said he will fit a Mirena coil at the same time to stop the bleeding, and tell need to see a different gp in order to change my HRT to a gel. I am concerned that the coil will cause more problems then it will solve, as I keep reading that it’s for ‘heavy bleeding’, which I have never had, and also will likely cause weight gain, which is the whole reason I went in the first place! Does anyone have any experience of this? I’m considering just getting the biopsy done but refusing the coil… I am torn! I had a coil years and years ago, and had it removed as I found it uncomfortable (I’m talking pre kids).

The results were clear not ‘chest’!. I was also asking about my libido as it has nosedived and I was curious about testosterone - which he couldn’t give me anyway.
