Best HRT option

I’m hoping to go on HRT. I’ve researched but still confused about the best options.

I have a GP Appointment but want to be informed.

I’m 45 and have irregular periods. 20-65 day cycles and have uterus. I’m taking mounjaro WLI.

If I understand correctly I need combined sequential. So always taking oestrogen and then taking progesterone periodically.

Is transdermal better? Can I take transdermal non oral progesterone?

What is the best progesterone (is it body identical) and is this available non oral. (Non oral is better with WLI)

Should I take progesterone every 3 months or every month?

Thanks ☺️

The default now for most women is transdermal estrogen to avoid blood clots and this is more relevant if you are very overweight. (not sure if that applies.)

You will either use a patch - estrogen in every one and a progesterone in 14 of them per month.

Or you can choose estrogen gel and micronised progesterone (tablet) 12 days a month.

There is no option on body identical, It's used orally or vaginally (off licence.)

There is also the option of the Mirena coil used alongside estrogen.

Dr Louise Newson's website Balance is a good source of all this info.
