Hi all
Im 49 and have been on HRT for 18 months as I had really dark thoughts and felt very low. but came off it 4 months ago because I have adenomyosis and the oestrogen I was taking was playing this up and sometimes in pain. 6 weeks after stopping I got the dark thoughts back feel very low and worse so I went back on hrt about 9 weeks ago and it’s just not the same as I was before I stopped? I rang the doctors and they have put me on progesterone every day as I was noticing a dip when I wasn’t on the progesterone like depressed, so they think it could help me? I still feel quite low and don’t know what to do? Any help as to what would work would be great thank you ☺️

Sorry to hear this op. I get awful anxiety and depression with menopause. I’m on hrt patches and Sertraline. But I would like to have my bloods done and hormones checked as they really affect my emotions.
sending hugs and following for more advice.

Sorry to hear this too it’s very frustrating, I get no other symptoms just my brain working overtime and feel that perimenopause has sucked all my happiness, they have prescribed setraline but I was going to see if thanking progesterone everyday might help? I also have 2 pumps of gel.

I also get the brain working overtime thing, it often keeps me awake in the night. And I also feel like I can’t find my happy any more. I’ve no desire to have days out or go in holiday, and I’ve been on HRT for 4 years. I don’t think it’s the cure all that people say it is.

200-400mg of L-Theanine at night before bed, and again in the morning changed my life. It’s an amino acid and doesn’t interact with anything. I take it with my HRT at night and with a small black coffee first thing in the morning. It has revolutionised my focus, improved my sleep, and the anxiety is greatly reduced.

Edit: (Some supplements come with a B vitamin attached, good for the morning but not for the night dose)

Hi, yes I’m feeling the same but I didn’t when I first went in it? I’m not sure I need to up my oestrogen maybe as I’m on 2 pumps a day. I also take vit b12, collagen, folic acid. I’ll see how I get on with the everyday progesterone but I’m absolutely zonked in the morning. I also take magnesium before bed.

Hi Thankyou for your comment I’ll buy some of those today. I am taking magnesium aswell before bed to help me sleep which I don’t have a problem with the sleep it’s just the over analyzing and thinking of every little thing and also the low that I feel I’m smiling but I’d rather be in a cupboard by myself and that isn’t me at all. I’m 50 next year and I’m thinking maybe I’m coming close to menopause and that’s why it’s getting worse and maybe I need something else until I get through it maybe testosterone as I have no libido either. Thankyou

I have the mirena coil. It’s a low, continuous dose of progesterone.
I take my gel in the morning as it was affecting my sleep at night
