Hot flushes already at 44?!

I think I’ve been in the beginnings of perimenopause since my late 30s- vaginal dryness, loss of sex drive, low mood, awful PMT. So far I’ve held off HRT and have instead changed my copper coil to mirena but the last few weeks I’ve been experiencing periods of intense sweating that comes in waves and have woken up in the middle of the night covered in sweat. Am I too young for hot flushes already?! I thought this was one of the later effects of perimenopause?
I thought at first it was the hot spell of weather and then I’ve had a recent operation and worried it was an impending infection but it goes away with no ill effects so I can’t think it’s anything else.

has anyone else started hot flushes already at 44? I think a trip to the GP is in order to have a serious talk about HRT as all of these symptoms together are becoming quite debilitating now

44 definitely isn’t too young for any peri symptoms, including hot flushes

Afraid this is normal. Hrt can be prescribed on symptoms alone at 45, any younger they might want to do a blood test. Worth a go.

44 isn’t early unfortunately!

Do you take any medications? Many of those can cause hot flushes, as can thyroid issues, but if you started peri symptoms in your late 30’s then you definitely aren’t too young for hot flashes I’m afraid.
