Spotting

I'm 50 pretty sure I'm in peri but still having periods, although last few months irregular (as in 2 weeks, then 6 weeks etc). Just had spotting yesterday and one day last week (very little, just noticed on wiping). Is this just peri or do I need to check with GP? Having a really stressful time at the moment so don't know if this is another thing to worry about or not!

It's a common symptom of peri. As you mention that your periods are becoming more irregular, I would guess the spotting is just your hormones in flux. It can happen mid-cycle during ovulation, or just randomly. From my own personal experience I wouldn't worry about it, but if it persists and starts to concern you, do consult your GP.

Thank you @OnionBudgie for replying. I think I'll just keep an eye on it for the moment.

I’m 54 and 4 years in menopause. What you’re describing was typical for me. From 45 my periods were very irregular, either practically non existent and far apart, or like a flood! If you’re suffering do check with your GP. I had crippling anxiety which I hadn’t connected to peri until my Mum told me she had the same issue. She pretty much frogmarched me to the doctors! I didn’t get HRT but did get CBT which helped. Good luck, it does get better!

Thanks @ThatLemonBear . That's interesting as I have massive anxiety at the moment, which I've put down to stress, but maybe peri is playing a part too. IMy mum and my aunt sailed through their menopauses with no symptoms apart from periods stopping apparently!
