Is this menopause?

I’m mid-40s. My periods are pretty regular 28/30 day cycle. On day 16 of this cycle I noticed light bleeding (noticeable only when wiping) and now 3 days later it’s getting heavier like a proper period. I never have spotting between periods or anything normally and now it seems I’m having period after only two weeks. Is this menopause starting? Do I need to do anything like see a GP!?

What would you want GP to do for you?
It's "normal" that periods vary throughout life, don't always stay the same.
Maybe if you took the pill or HRT your bleeding would become more predictable which sounds like you would prefer.
Do you have contraception sorted out?

You don’t need to see a GP if you’re perimenopausal, unless you want HRT or have a symptom that may not be peri

That's very likely perimenopause.

Periods all over place was how I knew mine was starting.

Thank you for those who answered kindly. Sounds like it could be perimenopause then.

I don’t particularly want to see a GP I was just wondering if I needed to. It may well be “normal” that periods vary but it’s not my normal. I’ve been regular 28-30 day cycle for 20 years! It’s definitely not my normal to have a period after only two weeks hence looking for some reassurance.
