Another Mirena coil question

Hi all, wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question or could share their experiences.

I had the mirena coil fitted last November, which has reduced my irregular, flooding periods to next to nothing.

Now, I am aware some people don’t bleed at all and some do but I’m experiencing horrendous PMS- bloating, rage, anxiety, appetite surges, cravings for about a week before a very light, almost non existent bleed. These have been increasingly infrequent. My periods before the coil were very irregular - the longest I went between bleeds was about 6 months then I had continuous bleeding for 3 months then random periods etc but after a hysteroscopy, a coil was placed. I am 47 with loads of other peri symptoms.

So my question is, is my cycle on the coil the same cycle I would have had without it, albeit with less bleeding or is it just coil bleeding? I’d like to know because I’d like to know when I actually hit menopause (so I can have it removed).

thanks

Mine was for about a year. Then it stopped.
I had horrific cramps and the tiniest bitbof bleeding. Gynae told me that this can happen when the device is still newish.

He also moved my device when he did a hysteroscopy and this made it release a lot more progesterone in its new site and I had horrific cramps for 3 months. Since then absolutely nothing.

Also why would you have it removed when you have passed the point of menopause?

I'm keeping mine until my uterus can't cope with it.

And my oestrogen patch!

Thanks@Ilovelowry. Hopefully the PMS will get better, and good to know that things might improve.

I want it removed because I’m only taking it for controlling the bleeding which hopefully will have stopped by then and I hate the PMS.
