You haven't had a period for 6 months and think 'finally, this is the end' and you start feeling the end is in sight and you are almost out the other side of this bullshit.

Then you go to the toilet and find you have gotten your period. 😕

Bugger 😫

Oh that’s a bummer OP. I’m nearly close to 2 years from having a period but I still get panicky when I can feel something down there and go to the loo.

Isn't it just. I really thought that this was the end. I went all last year having sporadic periods, one month on, one month off. Then I had one in December last year and have not had one since and I really thought this was going to be it.

I have had no signs or symptoms, no usual cramps or nothing. But am now having a bleed. Urrrggghhh 😫

2 years for you though, I would say you are most definitely safe!

I haven't had a period since last November, and it's liberating. But I still walk around with a tampon in my handbag, and the other day I thought I could feel something leaking .... but it was just my imagination.

Have you lost weight recently OP? I’ve heard that can bring periods back due to an oestrogen release or something

December for me. I honestly thought I was done but still always had a couple of tampons wherever I went also, just in case. Feels shit to now have one after 6 months being free from it all. I know that the guidelines though are 12 months before you can be considered to be in full menopause but I had allowed myself to hope that this was it.

Nope unfortunately not. I could stomach it if that was the reason 😂

I had 3 years of periods every 7 months before I finally stopped for good.

LadyFooFooFrankentits · 25/06/2025 21:10

I feel your pain. I have a pattern of skipping a few months which gets my hopes up and then having three in six weeks. Gah!

I have a feeling this is what will happen to me 🙄Its crap never knowing when you are properly done. I carry tampons everywhere just incase.

Even worse when this happens when you’ve gone abroad on holiday to a rural part with no shops….

Laiste · 25/06/2025 21:30

Same here. Took a couple of years to get through the 'has it/hasn't it buggered off' stage. I'm at nearly a year now 🤞

EmpressaurusKitty · 25/06/2025 21:34

I’m 57 days in so far & don’t dare wear anything that’s not dark in case I come on Hmm

I guess at least I have entered the 'has it/hasn't it' stage. I spent all last year getting them every 8 weeks or so then gradually going slightly longer each time, and then nothing since December, until this morning. I guess I am getting closer, but just not quite close enough 🙄

You're nearly there 😊👍

So many years of it! Mine was a bit unpredictable from the get go. But always predictably turning up when it wasn't wanted! Famously i came on on my wedding day 🙄

twilightcafe · 26/06/2025 13:51

My periods stopped for five months 🎉

Thought that was it until I got what felt like 5 months' worth of period in one go.

Next cycle was just as horrific. Thought 'sod this' and got booked in for a Mirena coil.

So far my periods are so much lighter. I can actually use regular tampons, rather than those rolled-up pads that are meant to be Ultra absorbency tampons.

Shitstix · 26/06/2025 13:54

I just recently had 3 months without a period, and yes I did really hope that was it.

Period came, then again 4 weeks later. Ffs.
