Hi ladies I’ve given up on the patches that was another thread!! I wonder if you could shed some light on what to do, I’ve just picked up the gel and progesterone tablets. The gel instructions are completely clear, however, the progesterone tablets state x2 for 12 days a month, what days? I’m on desogestral (mini pill) and don’t have a cycle at all, so I’m really unclear as when to take them!!! Any ideas I’ve tried Google and my GP is now closed grateful for any suggestions!!
thank you as always !

That seems odd. I was on the mini pill as part of HRT alongside oestrogel and I took one utrogestan every single night. I never had any periods / bleeding etc.

The mini pill IS progesterone is it not?
So why do you have another progesterone?
Or am I misunderstanding?

I’ve been on your regime before. I had 2 weeks no Utrogestan followed by 2 weeks 2xUtrogestan every night. Then repeated. I had no periods, but occasionally I would stop the minipill and get absolutely horrendous periods, with one that lasted over a month. I stopped taking the minipill as I think it wasn’t good to stop the shedding and my uterus lining was getting too thick. ( This was my own reckoning about the minipill.)

I'm on the same HRT/mini pill combo as you and also no bleeding. I take one progesterone tablet every day.

My GP took advice on this. I take the pill continuously so don’t get periods. I was told to take progesterone every night and hrt gel every morning

The mini pill on its own does not provide a high enough dose for HRT. The womb lining would continue to thicken. You can use the mini pill as part of HRT but at 3 x the usual dose and that's off-licence.

The posts here from women saying they took 1 Utrogestan a day were given combined continuous HRT. This is usually for women who are post meno. If you stop using the mini pill, are under 54 and still have periods, you may need to increase the Utrogestan to 200mgs on a cycle.

There is a small chance that using 100mgs Utrogestan a day, too soon, is that it's not enough and you will get bleeding.

@nottoday3000 I'd go back to your GP and discuss this again. If you take utrogestan on a cycle you may or may not get a withdrawal bleed each month.
You could try it daily (1 capsule) or you could ask about increasing the dose of the mini pill. (BMS suggests 3 Noriday a day.)

Thanks for all your input! However, I’m on the mini pill (52 nearly) so I’ve been given progesterone tablets but it says on the label take for 12 days a month but not when in that month, as I don’t have periods I’m not sure when in the month to take it!! If that makes sense , I just took one last night might do the same tonight until I can try and speak to anyone in Monday!!

You can start them any time.

Mini pill- Have you any idea when you own natural cycle stopped? The rule is carry on contraception for 12 months after your last period if you're over 50. Do you think you need to be on the mini pill?
