Hi, I’m 59 have been taking ugesterone and everol patches. Stopped recently as I was away and ran out and never restarted. I am now feeling a bit miserable and fed up- do you think it could be that? I was basically feeling that I am old enough to stop now, have been on them about 5 years. But seems like I am a bit dependent. What do others think? I am worried about the negative side effects as I get older.

You are not old to use HRT.
I have friends in their 70s using it still, having started in their early 50s.
If you have symptoms, then it's worth reconsidering.
It's not about being 'dependent' (like an addiction) it's because we never get our hormones back.

The benefits outweigh risks for most women, especially for heart and bone health.

Utrogestan is one of the safer types of progesterone so if it suited you, and you want to go back onto it with estrogen patches, why not try it again and see how you feel?
