Testosterone for Libido

Savoretti · 03/06/2025 08:30

Has anyone tried this? My menopausal symptoms are controlled with HRT but my libido is declining and it really upsets me. My GP doesn’t prescribe testosterone, happy to go private but not sure if the negatives may outweigh any possible positives

Yes I find it helps a bit. No side effects that I’ve noticed.

Ok thanks

NHS GPs can't currently prescribe Testosterone, but from the couple of friends I've heard that take it alongside their usual HRT it has really made a positive difference to more than Libido, they saw Dr Coward from Myvia.

My NHS GP prescribed it. It’s not included in the menopause prepay scheme so you have to pay the prescription charge.

Yes I get it privately and it has helped with libido. Side effects for me are increased hair on my thighs where I apply it.

I take but it made no difference to my libido.

Prescribed by my local NHS GP.

My NHS GP prescribed it for me.

During the first couple of weeks I had a mind blowing orgasm! Its definitely improved things although it never quite reached those giddy heights again :)

Only side effect is a slightly hairy thigh where I rub it in, and my bush has returned with a vengeance, but I’m quite happy about that tbh! My clitoris had also shrunk away to next-to-nothing, but the testosterone helped to bring it back to life somewhat.

Definitely worth asking to try it. Testosterone is one of our hormones so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t get it alongside the other hormones.

I get testosterone from my NHS GP. She wasn’t able to prescribe it at first and explained that if a gynae prescribed it and it was effective then after that she could prescribe it. I paid £250 for a private gynae consultation and about £20 for the initial private prescription and since then I get it from GP on NHS.
