Low estrogen & testosterone but low FSH

I'm 41 and have been experiencing some symptoms that could be peri related for the last 2-3 years - increased anxiety, lack of motivation, irritability, no libido, lighter and closer together periods (although I've mostly been on contraceptive pills that stop my cycle). My GP denied me HRT as they found low FSH (they didn't check oestradiol). I've had a couple of private blood tests in the last couple of years that show very low oestradiol. The GP said this was normal on the contraceptive pill?? (to do the tests I temporarily stopped the Pill to take the test on the 3rd day of the breakthrough bleed).

Private test last July as I'd been on gedarel for a few months in the hope it would boost my already low estrogen: Oestradiol 35pmol/l. Follicular period ref range 114-332.

FSH 21.5 iu/l, over follicular period ref range of 3.5-12.5. BUT a GP test later that month indicated 0.9 iu/l.

My testosterone seems very low: 0.19 nmol/L, ref range 0.29-1.67.

I'm confused, and concerned about losing bone density with my low estrogen level. Is this level normal and acceptable when taking the combined pill?

Would getting a private menopause consultation be a good idea? I want to boost my estrogen and testosterone but I don't even know if I'm peri due to the FSH result.

I’d definitely see a menopause specialist. I had to as my G.Ps weren’t confident enough to prescribe testosterone as it’s off license. It’s most definitely worth paying for, 🤗

You won't get an accurate result on the third day of a breakthrough bleed. Not that this means that you're not peri however.
