Mirena coil

I’ve been for a hysteroscopy today as had post menopausal bleeding yet again. The gynaecologist offered me a mirena coil. Current HRT is Estradiol gel and progesterone capsules.

I asked why he felt a coil would be more beneficial, he said that I wouldn’t have any bleeding with the coil.

Surely I shouldn’t be having any bleeding at all, I’m five years post menopause. Or am I missing something?

That’s really weird. I’d be seeking a second opinion.

I’m back at clinic to talk about a hysterectomy in four months, providing everything is ok.
But yes I thought so too. I said I don’t want a coil as I like being in control and tablets give me that.

I love my Mirena coil but I agree with you that the doctor should be investigating the bleeding, not just trying to stop it! Can you ask to see a different GP?

The bleeding is being investigated, it was the gynae who spoke about the coil when I was having the hysteroscopy today 😊
