HRT Patches v oral tablets

I’ve recently been changed to patches from oral HRT due to turning 60. Two months in I’m gaining weight at an alarming rate. I’m overweight compared to how I’d like to be but have been fairly stable but since starting the patches I’ve gained half a stone and nothing is shifting it. Could this be the change to patches?

With tablets, a lot of the hormone can be lost during digestion so you might be getting a higher dose .

Is the dose you were on the same as what you're on now and the same hormone, especially the progesterone?

I have a more a coil for the progesterone and the patches are just the oestrogen. I think it’s thee same lot less as I was wanting to decrease to try to see if I could come off it altogether.

I'm a bit unclear what you said (typos?)
Is it the same dose or less?
You've got a Mirena?

It can take up to 3 months for a new type to settle and any weight gain tends to be temporary.

Sorry yes! Typos I meant mirena coil! 🤦‍♀️
thank you for replying. It’s heartening to know it may not be permanent. I am currently gaining 1-2 pounds a week! 😳

I have been using patches instead of gel and have put on weight since switching.
Its odd.
