I think I'm in perimenopause. Night sweats, constant raging hot flashes, no energy, bleeding for 2 weeks every month, acne, low mood? I'm 39 and this started around 8 months ago. My question is how do I cope with this and why do I have this dreadful feeling of shame because of it.

Do see your GP. There's no need to be ashamed- it's not as if it's your fault.

You should have some blood tests as you're young (they are done on women under 45) and your GP ought to suggest HRT.

This is safe for women your age as it's only topping up your own hormones.

If your periods stop before 45 that's called early menopause and the medical guidance is you use HRT at least right through to the average age of menopause - 51.
