Hello, I’ve name changed as my posts are usually quite recognisable and I don’t want to share this with anyone who knows me just yet. I’m in my 40s and been experiencing heavy/sore boobs, lightheartedness and increased appetite the past couple of weeks. I’ve been putting it down to perimenopause but took a pregnancy test this morning to put my mind at rest as I have a niggling feeling it could possibly be pregnancy. Anyway I took this test and glanced at it and initially it looked negative, then I looked again and there does appear to be a verrrrry faint second line. Super faint! It’s hard to show in the photo so I’ve tried my best to get a photo without shadows and in clear lighting. I will add I looked within the time frame so it’s not been left for ages. Does anyone see the line? Should I be taking it seriously or am I overthinking? Thank you! Also sorry if in wrong topic- I went with menopause due to my age and wondering if it’s a menopause thing.

Could I have some line eyes please? Please please please.

Hard to say. I can see a very faint line but it could just be it shining through from the back, not actually activated, if you kniw what I mean. Best would be to do more tests in the mornings with the first urine after waking up.. If money is an issue, Poundland ones etc are cheap and just as reliable, just their packaging is simpler and they dont have a plastic case, they are just simple paper strips.

Moreindecision · 29/05/2025 09:53

I can see the line very faintly but if it appeared after some time, I wouldn't trust the test. Do another tomorrow and check out within the specified time frame.

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 10:00

Thank you both for your replies. @Moreindecisionit definitely appeared within the time frame, showed in about 2 minutes. And thank you for reassuring me you can see something too 💗
@Zedania73 yes I thought the same about whether it’s just showing through, I know exactly what you mean! Can’t decide either and I’m tying my head in knots thinking about it. That’s a good idea about Poundland, I pass one on my way to work so I’ll pick up a couple of tests today! Thank you again.

Have you had sex with no contraception? If you're unsure about the result see your GP for more tests.

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 10:15

@JinglingSpringbellsmuch as I appreciate your reply it’s nigh on impossible to get a gp appointment where I am at the moment. So I want to make sure I’m not just seeing things but I’m reassured that others on here do see the line too. I’ll take another test tomorrow morning for certainty and go down the GP route then if need be. Thanks for your help 🙂

I see a line. This happened to my friend in her 40s and she popped out twins 😅

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 10:21

@dontcomeatme😳🙈 nooooooo twins do run in our family! Hope your friend and her little ones are all ok!

I can definitely see a line! How do you feel about it OP? Could you test again tomorrow morning with a different brand?

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 19:16

@Mumofsoontobe3 I feel mixed I think. Concerned by what age I’d be when they’re 10, 15, 20 etc but also we would be ok. Husband is fine and said if the test’s correct we will manage and not to worry, so that was reassuring to hear. Will test again in the morning or possibly may hold off until Saturday to give a little more time. But that’s if I can actually wait!

I potentially see something, but if you’ve been having symptoms for weeks then you I can’t imagine they’d be pregnancy related as that line is super faint? Mine looked like that at 11DPO

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 20:07

@SarahLHsI did wonder the same thing. It’s so hard to tell cos some perimenopause symptoms are so similar to pregnancy ones.

What's the GP going to do, apart from say take another pregnancy test in a few days. I can see something faintly OP.

Sparkly666 · 29/05/2025 20:10

Looks just like mine did at 9/10 DPO. My toddler is upstairs sleeping happily. 😊

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 20:11

Thanks @diddlydooda🙏 My head is all over the place. Keep jumping between totally not believing it and then having moments of “oh this could be real”…

I do see a faint line but hard to tell whether it’s an evap line or actual line.

Glad to hear your DH is being supportive what ever happens.

chickennoodledoodle · 29/05/2025 20:13

Yep, I also see a faint line. I’d do another one a few days time m, it could be faint bc it’s early days 🤷🏽‍♀️

redtrainmuddle · 29/05/2025 20:19

Thanks @WasherWoman25and @chickennoodledoodle Going to try and hold off testing again until Saturday morning if I can to give it a little time as you say. Hopefully it’s a nice clear answer at that point! And yes very glad DH is being so supportive and calm.

Any update @redtrainmuddle ?

Noshadealltea · 31/05/2025 23:56

Looks like a line to me!

redtrainmuddle · 01/06/2025 12:36

Hi, thanks again to everyone. I’ve test again twice and it’s come up negative each time. I did buy Poundland tests but left them in my desk at work on Friday so I picked up Boots own brand and a First Response instead which both said negative. So maybe it’s been a false positive. I definitely saw a line as did pretty much everyone on here so I’m confused but presuming it’s negative. I’m a little disappointed as I’d started to get my head around it, but also I know we are lucky to have the children we have already and it would have been a big surprise. Thank you again.
