Bleeding on patch brand change

I was happily using Estradot 100mcg patches with continuous Utrogestan 200mg capsules (vaginally) nightly without any problems. When the Estradot shortage hit I switched to Estraderm MX patches which were awful! They stuck to my skin on day 1 but were curling at the edges on day 2 and hanging off by day 3. I had insomnia, massive anxiety and by the end of the first week on them I was bleeding. Then switched to Evorel. These stick very well and I feel good on them as I am sleeping well and have no anxiety or hot flushes. However I have been on these around 10 days and I’m now bleeding again! What?! Does that mean I’m not absorbing the oestrogen? I wouldn’t have thought this would happen just with switching brands. Any tips?

I had a few issues with bleeding (and symptoms returning) when I switched from estradot to Evorel. My conclusion (and my doc’s) is that I’m not absorbing the Evorel as well. Think this is common - estradot are superior. So I’ve had to go up from 37.5 - 50 and things have settled down.

I’m guessing you’re at 100 though? You may just not be absorbing enough. I would see if it settles as you are feeling good. If it doesn’t then there are the gels and sprays you could try. That was my next option if I kept having problems on Evorel.

Thanks @Delatron. Yes I’m on the highest dose of patch so I’m a bit stuck in terms of increasing the dose. Fingers crossed Estradot will be available soon!
