new to HRT patches - when to start?

i ve been prescribed Evorel sequi for a 3 month trial (picked them up yesterday) and am on Day 4 of my cycle. Periods are fairly regular, and I am not sure if there is any "risk" to starting today versus waiting for day 1 of the next cycle.

I know that the longer i delay, the more i ll over analyse risks, and adverse events, and will spook myself out of starting. But I worry that starting on day 4 instead of day 1 will induce some diregulation.

any insight would be very welcome. GP did not explain much, simply wrote the script and told me that the sequi parches were "easier" as no need for a separate pill.

this being a trial, i also want to document symptoms changes carefully (the mini pill used to drive me a bit crazy).

It won't make much difference.

TBH your GP ought to be more helpful.
The 'easiness' is subjective.

The main choices are whether you favour the more natural type of progesterone which is a tablet- micronised progesterone - taken for 12 days per month- or the older, synthetic sort that is in patches (for half the month.)

All types of progesterone can cause side effects but it's very individual.

It also depends if you're happy to have a patch stuck on your bum or prefer a no show type of estrogen like gel or spray, that you apply daily.

All of this should have been discussed with you.

I'd really caution against over-thinking side effects and just going with the flow.

thank you for your reply- good point re not overthinking side effects.

I overthink everything and it stops me acting.

i pushed myself to start on day 4
and now i am working hard at switching off my brain from over analysing how i feel and what could happen
