On Evorel Conti, but bleeding constantly

I’ve been on HRT for 4 years, over a year ago I switched to Evorel Conti. I continued having periods for a while, but for at least two months this has switched to daily bleeding. My breasts are also swollen and sore. I spoke to my GP who requested a scan, I haven’t got a date for this yet. I’m in my mid fifties. Has anyone got any thoughts on this? I had thought that I would stop having bleeds when I switched to Evorel Conti patches.

I have the same problem. Last summer, the bleeding was investigated and the scan found a polyp. I had a hysteroscopy to investigate and the polyp was removed (nb hysteroscopy can be painful, so i opted for a general anaesthetic - in case you're offered one).

After this, my HRT dose was adjusted (was told I needed more progesterone). I stopped bleeding for a bit, but it soon started up again and now I'm bleeding randomly again. It's maddening.

I'm seeing the GP about it tomorrow and assume my HRT dose will be adjusted again.

I hope you find a solution.

I had this at 61. Been on HRT for 11 years and was getting monthly bleeding. Went on conti and bled for 31 days.
I came off it. Sick of trying different HRT over the years.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, it’s reassuring to hear that it happens to other people. I didn’t expect it

Mikart, I'm having the same problem. Plus my DH and I can no longer have intercourse as it's too painful, it was one of the main reasons that I tool it in the first place. I stopped taking it 2 days ago. How are you feeling now you are off it?

Did you find out what was causing your bleeding please?

This may sound strange, but I think it may have been due to thrush/candida. I have taken a lot of antibiotics and have a persistent problem with thrush. I had a pelvic ultrasound which showed an enlarged and thickened womb, and was referred on the two week cancer pathway, but all was ok. I’ve been told that the womb changes could be due to candida. The gynaecologist said he’d never heard of that.

So has it stopped now?

Mustardfan · 19/06/2026 11:35

Yes, it stopped after I started treating the thrush. I think I probably have quite a problem with thrush/ candida and it will take some time to treat, I’m now on a 6 month course.

sounds like you have been put on continual HRT too early. It is for women who have not had a natural period for 1 year plus.

Christine0708 · 21/06/2026 12:47

@Mustardfan are you using vaginal oestrogen. You could have been been suffering with vaginal atrophy

Christine0708 · 21/06/2026 12:50

@highlandponymummy are you post menopausal? There are loads of different HRT regimes out there you need to get the correct one. Also vaginal Oestogen can help with vaginal atrophy x

I had this. I swapped to Evorel plus utrogestan capsules at an increased dose, then Provera instead of Utrogestan. Nothing worked so I had a coil fitted 2 years ago and haven't bled since.

I had a hysteroscopy where they discovered a fibroid and 'bulky womb' which was the cause.
