Fatty liver - And micoronised progesterone tablet?

NewPlumCat · 10/05/2025 09:10

Hi,
I was diagnosed with a mild fatty liver a couple of months ago. I am postmenopausal and have been suffering with severe menopause symptoms, anxiety and depression and joint pain and this has been the case since the last 3 years.
My GP has still prescribed me the micoronised progesterone tablet and said its safe for me to take it despite I have a mild fatty liver.
I understand that but I have googled a lot and it says you can't take oral progesterone if you have a fatty liver as it will make the condition worse?

Kindly, this is about your 5th thread on this.

We've given you a lot of support and suggested you find more help for your health anxiety.

If you're unsure, step away from Google and talk to your GP again.

Thank you for your message and I can completely understand this. I was Just asking as you said micoronised progesterone tablet is a very safe type of HRT and its body identical as well. I have been given evorel conti patches as well but the progesterone in them is synthetic and not body identical and it poses some risks as well. So I just need some advice and reassurance xx

See your GP.

You don't need micronised progesterone as well as a conti patch.
It's either gel + Utrogestan, or a conti patch.

I don't think anyone can offer any more reassurance or advice as it will just repeat what was posted on your previous threads.

Sorry.

Hi, I didn't want to take micoronised progesterone tablets and evorel conti together, i was thinking of only taking micoronised progesterone tablet with estrogen patches that don't have progesterone, but I am worried if I take it will make my fatty liver condition worse x

You asked this weeks ago.
Why would your GP give you a medicine that was going to make you worse?
Seriously? Why?

Hi, I understand that but a lady in Facebook menopause group advised me not to take micoronised progesterone tablets if I've got a fatty liver. She said she has also got a fatty liver and she uses HRT in patches. She said it can make the condition a lot worse x

Tell your GP that and ask them.

Hi thank you, I will book an appointment with my GP again next week and ask them this. As for the evorel conti patches, is the progesterone in there safe to take? As it says its synthetic and its not the one our ovaries produce? x
