estrogen gel without progesterone when still menstruating

I have been prescribed estrogen gel for peri symptoms. My NP has prescribed a low dose initially - one pump of 0.06% gel so 0.75 mg per day. My understanding was that if menstruating still (I am) you had to take progesterone too to reduce risk of endometrial cancer. I did ask the NP about this but she said at this low dose it's not necessary. But all the guidance including the drug leaflet says it is. Does anyone have experience of taking low dose estrogen gel without a progesterone?

Is an NP a nurse practitioner?
She needs to do more training!

Estrogen as HRT cannot be prescribed without progesterone if women have a womb.

It's the simple.

It may be worth taking this up with someone else at the practice because I wonder how many other women are being told this?

@JinglingSpringbells thanks that's what I thought. Yes NP is nurse practitioner.
