Estriol

I've been prescribed Estriol for VA but reading the leaflet is giving me the heebie jeebies, with the blood clot etc warnings.

Is it worth trying? What will it do? I can't say I've been suffering that much, apart from a slight bit of urinary incontinence.

Also, I'm supposed to be away in a few months time with a new partner - we haven't had sex yet & I'm going to insist on condoms but will they be ok to use with the Estriol?

Oh and if anyone can recommend a good (condom friendly 😉) lube, I'd appreciate it please!
It's been quite a few years since I last had sex and I'm nervous/self conscious about the thought of doing it again. 🙄

TIA

The cream really only works locally and doesn’t have a systemic (whole body) effect so I wouldn’t worry about the risks of clots etc that the patient information leaflet lists. The manufacturer has to list these side effects but they really only relate to the oestrogen in tablet, patch or gel form that is used as HRT. The dose of the cream for VA is tiny compared with the dose for HRT. I think some doctors are lobbying to try and get the systemic side effects removed from the internal cream patient information leaflet.
In a few months time you’ll only be using the cream twice a week so you could just avoid the nights you are going away with your partner. And lube-you might not need any once you start using the cream as it will hopefully eliminate vaginal dryness!
