hello ladies I just turned 43 last week, I have had late periods before, my cycle can be anything from 18 days to 35 days but eventually it shows up. This time it feels different I’m dripping in sweat a few times a day, like my head and scalp gets very sweaty my whole body feels like it’s burning up, than like a wave it stops. It’s really upsetting me how I can go 0-100 in body heat ( I assume this is what’s called a hot flush) mum sailed through menopause, no symptoms whatsoever periods stopped than life went on. It upsets me as I feel my scalp get hot and I think here we go I’m going to burn up now. I don’t want to take HRT any tips or advice what I should take? My anxiety is very high and energy very low and crazy emotional.

thank you
Ruby

I am sorry you are feeling that way. Sometimes late periods can cause hot flushes and it may or may not mean you are in perimenopause.
If you don't want to take hrt then cetrizine might help. There is quite a lot of research on it. It helped me.

I've just lived with them.

Why don’t you want to take HRT?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 29/04/2025 19:57

Your anxiety, hot flushes, low energy and crazy emotions would all be resolved if you took HRT. Why won’t you take it? And don’t bother comparing yourself to anyone else, every perimenopause is different. Just take care of yourself so you can feel better.

this might not be menstrual or hormone related. You could have an infection or something else. I’d suggest going to the GP and getting checked out.

As you're 43 you're on the young side for this especially if your periods were to stop by 45- that's called early menopause. and the treatment is hrt.

See your GP and discuss HRT.

Not sure why you don't want to use it.

The risks of HRT don't apply to women under 50 anyway. All it does is replace the estrogen you're missing.

Thank you for all your replies. I think I want to try vitamins or something more natural more than HRT. Also it just seems complicated taking estrogen and progesterone patches creams etc. If it was a pill day maybe it’s easier. Overwhelming all the information I find online.

You can take just a pill a day for HRT.

Don't take any notice of all the negative posts about HRT because obviously people only post when they have a problem.

There are many types of hrt and pills are fine for younger women.

Seriously, vitamins won't stop your symptoms.
If they did , why would any women use HRT?

HRT IS natural- most of it now is made from yams.
It's called body identical and is the same as our own hormones.

You also need to understand the real risks of an early-ish menopause.

hRT isn't complicated. I stick a patch on on Wednesday. Then change it on Sunday. Two tablets before bed on the 1-14th of the month and a vaginal pessary on the same days as the patch.
