Bleeding after almost a year…

Last year, end of April, I stopped taking the pill at age 50 on advice of the dr. I had a two day withdrawal “period”. I started HRT in September after having many menopause symptoms. Because I hadn’t had a period in those months (and had no idea when my last period had been as I was on the pill for 10 years), I was put on continuous progesterone and oestrogen patches.

Today, so almost a year since the last period of sorts, I’ve started bleeding. It’s pinkish at the moment.

Does this count as post menopausal bleeding? Do I need to see a dr?

How long have you been bleeding for??

It just started today. So it’s about a week short of a year since the last bleed.

Could it be the menopause?? I didn't bleed for 3 year's then had one day bleed. And that was officially the end of it

When I was put on hrt the dr said he was presuming I had gone through menopause a few years ago without realising because of the contraceptive pill, so put me on continual progesterone (I think before menopause it should be cyclical?)

Yes you should see a doctor and be investigated but having said that it is a common scenario and the usual outcome is that nothing sinister is going on.

This happened to me. I went for a uterine scan, had a smear and ovary scan. All OK, except my uterine lining is slightly thicker. So I will keep an eye on further bleeding, if there is any. Also keep your HRT administration the same every day, this has helped.

I had my first bleed for a year at 55, called GP was fast tracked and investigations took place and polyps were found and removed. They act pretty quick and make no bones about what they are looking for
