Every Evening skin gets hot driving me mad

Mancity08 · 03/04/2025 00:12

Literally every evening without fail around 8-9pm my skin starts to get hot, like the blood underneath it is making it hot.
my feet can be freezing yet my arms and legs(especially) feel like there on fire.
This has been going on for years, been to gp just get creams that don’t work! No answers to what it is . The hotness of skin causes so much irritation because I feel my legs/arms are on fire

By the time I’m going to bed I know I’m in for a bad night 😡 I have to lie naked on top of the bed or quilt off until I feel there cooling down
sometimes it’s early hours before I can settle
I’m shattered

please tell me someone else gets this ? I’m at the end of my tether AGAIN . I can’t sleep till it cools down, constantly moving to cool parts of the bed
HELPppppp

What happens if you have a cool shower , so you pre empt the heat?

What you're describing is a form of a hot flush but only on parts of your body.

Try HRT?

JinglingSpringbells · 03/04/2025 08:20

Presumably you think this is related to menopause as you've posted here?
How old are you and do you have any other symptoms?
It sounds classic 'hot flush' but not on your face.
Trouble sleeping and feeling hot are vasomotor symptoms.
Surprised your GP isn't aware of this.

Should of said im 67 and I’m 10+ yrs post menopausal
Never tried HRT as at the time of menopause I had a mental illness with extreme high anxiety and depression. As I was already on antidepressant the mental health team changed my med (🤦‍♀️) and I had all sorts of problems
So NO HRT

Never heard of body hot flush, as I’ve never heard any other ladies mention this?
have heard of face/neck flush
GP never mentioned vasomotor symptoms ever
only ever gave me cream for when it gets to the point it makes me itch

Will try cool showers again

Being 67 isn't irrelevant. I know of women in their 70s who are still on HRT to control hot flushes and all the other menopause symptoms.

They don't just 'go away' for everyone.

It's also possible that your mental health issues were down to the menopause because until recently, many drs were dishing out anti depressants instead of HRT (though lack of education on menopause.)

You aren't too old for HRT and many women start in their 60s, having suffered for years.

If your GP won't join the dots, and you can afford it, book an appt with a private menopause doctor- there are lots around.

My mum has this and we think it is Mast cell activation. She is always worse in the evening and night. May be worth a look into.

Wotrewelookinat · 03/04/2025 17:38

I get this but it's my hands and feet affected. I can be in bed and actually feel cold, but my feet feel like they're on fire. HRT has helped and it happens alot less often now.
