Random breast tenderness

I’ve been on HRT for about 2 years, Mirena coil plus Evorel 75 patches. My main symptoms were irritability and heart palpitations. It has worked very well and I have had no issues. I’m 51.

In the last ten days or so, however, both boobs and nipples have felt extremely tender, both to the touch and as a general nagging ache. It feels a bit like they did when I was breastfeeding!

I have no lumps, and had a clear mammogram only 2 months ago so I’m not worried about anything sinister. I also feel like my libido is higher.

I was wondering, is it possible that I am having some sort of oestrogen surge and suddenly I have too much oestrogen with the patches as well? Has anyone else experienced this? It’s quite uncomfortable.

I am having exactly this right now.My boobs are sore. I finished the last of my Utrogestan today so I am expecting a bleed so think my body is ready for it. I keep having terrible indigestion too. I’ve asked for the pessary form as it’s not agreeing with my stomach.

@HotCrossBunplease My guess is you've ovulated. If your periods hadn't stopped prior to starting HRT you won't know if you're post menopausal.
Periods at 51 aren't unheard of. Mine carried on till almost 53.

Thanks @JinglingSpringbells . Do I just wait this out then and eventually it will go away?

I was getting it on HRT tablets. After a while, it stopped. I'm now on patches and my breasts are really achy again. I'm hoping it'll ease like it did last time.

Yes but if it goes on and on you could consider reducing the estrogen dose.

This is where I am at the moment, to the extent of having to get a large cyst checked at the breast clinic for the first time in 8 years. I'm reducing the patch dose to see if that helps.
