For the last 3 night I've woken up sweating - ended up in the shower to cool off. I'm 46 is this normal?? Any top tips as to how to get through this? I'm knackered in the mornings!!

sadly yes, normal for perimenopause and menopause. Mine can be accompanied with horrific nightmares too. Since going on HRT I get them very very rarely, I was 46 when it all sort of started

HRT

It's perfectly 'normal' at your age as you'll approaching menopause.

Do you have other symptoms of peri menopause yet?

Sympathies! I also found eating earlier in the evening rather than at 8pm really helped.

Also cutting down alcohol consumption especially later in the evening.

cut out sugar as much as possible too.

try to get your room and yourself as cool as possible before you go to bed

all these things have helped me but it will be different for everyone.

The only thing that helped me was HRT. It did try everything else!

They stopped within about a week of starting. I was waking up dripping in sweat every 30 minutes. It was awful.

Avoid alcohol if you know you need to minimise the chance of a sweat.

I still have them on the top amount of oestrogen. My chest gets absolutely soaking.

Wear cotton vest and have a spare by the bed. It barely wakes me up as I sleep so deeply on HRT, but I do sometimes need to get changed.

Whilst it is a menopausal symptom, it's worth checking with a GP as night sweats can be a symptom of other things too. Less likely but it's worth a few blood tests.

HRT. Also a wool duvet helped.

Thanks so much - yes cycles have been getting longer - from 28 days like clockwork to now 55 days at the last count! I'm thinking a trip to the docs to discuss her might be needed - I can't cope with this every night!!

As someone who put off HRT for years, get HRT! It has stopped the hot flushes, sweats and I can sleep through the night. I have the spray estradiol and a progesterone capsules.
