Vagifem

This has been added to my HRT meds to address dryness and (unbelievable) itching. I have to use it every night for 2 weeks and then I can decide how often I use it.

What about sex?! Should I avoid piv while using it? Or use condoms? Or does it not matter?

Any advice is appreciated as I've never used Vagifem before.

I’m old and have used it for about 15 years. Start with taking it daily for a fortnight , then twice a week forever - it’s not ´make your own mind up’ , it’s how it works. It’s there to keep your vagina healthy and comfortable whether you’re sexually active or not. Contraception and protection from STIs are separate issues. I certainly wouldn’t still be either sexually active or comfortable without it.

I'm not worried about contraception or STIs we've been married 20+ years. I'm just thinking about the practicalities of using it.

Just insert one of the tiny tablets each night for two weeks, then on, say, Thursday and Sunday forever. They don’t make a mess or alter your routine but you should feel the benefit pretty soon.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel It's reasonably easy to use.

when you use it for 14 days you can either not have sex in those 2 weeks, or insert Vagifem afterwards.

If you're using it 2x a week (forever) the same applies- don't have sex or insert afterwards. You can use it day or night.

Your partner doesn't need to use condoms.

I had the same thought, just started on the 2 week loading dose. Worried about exposing my husband to a strong dose of oestrogen but will just aim to not have sex on the 2 nights when taking the top up dose

Do you itch all over or just locally? I’ve just started Vagifem, I’m one week in and itch everywhere!! Does it get better?! I’m slowly going mad here scratching like I have fleas!! 😝
