Worried about lack of period

Hi all,

I have been on HRT for about 6 years now ( lenzetto spray and ultragestan pills). I was taking two of the pills a night during the second half of my cycle. I had noticed that some months last year I wouldn’t get a period. I have, on more than one occasion messed up the ultragestan pills but perhaps missing some. Anyway, I think I missed some in December last year . I have been still taking the pills when I should but it hasn’t resulted in a period. I think that it’s been roughly 5 or 6 months since my last period. I will be 53 in July. Now, if this means I’m just going into menopause that’s ok but I keep worrying myocarditis about endometrial cancer ( pr whichever is the type they say can occur if you don’t take progesterone with the oestrogen). I have asked for an HRT review but o haven’t been given an appointment for a month so I am worried. I don’t have any adverse symptoms and actually, after having suffered a lot of period pain each month ( often debilitating pain and lasting for two weeks) I don’t miss my periods but I am scared my missing the progesterone on some months has done something bad. Any advice I’m greatly appreciate. Thank you

I really don’t think missing a few pills will cause a problem, but would you consider a Mirena coil so that you don’t have to remember to take them?

Can you be more specific about your use of Utrogestan?

You should be taking 2 capsules for 12 or 14 days each month.

From what you've said it's not clear how many times you've missed taking utrogestan. If it's often, then you won't had a withdrawal bleed.

The bleed is not your own period. It's a withdrawal bleed It will happen as long as you take this sort of HRT at any age- even in your 80s! It's caused by stopping Utrogestan, so the womb lining breaks down and comes away.

I have missed my period/bleed this month and wondering whether this is the start of menopause or low estrogen perhaps? Don’t think I could be pregnant as there hasn’t been any sex since my last bleed/period. Not missed any utrogestan either - taken the full 13 days!
is it possible to be pregnant and just have bleeds because of utrogestan?

You’d probably be best starting your own post about this, as it won’t get traffic doing it this way.
