Hi

I’ve not had a period for 2 months now, get all the period pains in the lead up to when it should have arrived and this extra runny discharge but no period.

I’m 47, is this the start of the menopause? I’m def not pregnant! X

This is how it started with me, I bought quite a few cheap pregnancy kits. First year, I missed 3, second year 4, then 6 months before I had another period, all were really weak blood, just a show, but the last period I had when I was 50 was a proper long lasting one with small clots.

thanks for responding, so this doesn’t mean this is the end of my periods, they could still come back, I hate not knowing when they will arrive xx

Yes, it's a bumpy ride: when I started missing periods first, the lining was still building up but not shedding as normal, so then when the period returned there was quite a build up. This extended missed periods started about 3 years ago. Each year, 5 or 6 month gap.

Over time the amount of lining was getting less and less. I had a 5 month gap last year, followed by 3 periods. Nothing since last mid December.

However, my skin has really aged in last few months, (estrogen dip) and I m as dehydrated as the Sahara, also have a new tummy tire. I really feel my ovulation days are over. Will be 46 next month.

Same has just happened to me, same age. Had a cycle the same length as 3 of my normal ones, followed by an incredibly heavy period (3 days of flooding and having to change clothes quite a few times). Now having a second very long cycle.
It's been accompanied by only 4 hours sleep a night for a couple of months, palpitations, night sweats and extreme anxiety.

Wide awake from 3-4am each morning, I asked the doctor about HRT in desperation this week. They've said no as the delayed periods might be just stress and there aren't enough symptoms to say.
Saw another doctor when I started struggling 6 weeks ago and they said almost certainly peri-menopause and suggested HRT so not sure what to think!

Mine went missing for five months last year and then arrived with quite literally a flood. I was housebound it was so horrific. I went to my gp as I really didn't think I'd get able to cope with this on an ongoing basis and my gp referred to to a gynae. The gynae recommended the mirena which he put in a few weeks later under general anesthetic while also doing a d&c and having a good look around. Everything later came back clear which was great and the mirena is working brilliantly I've had almost zero bleeding. However he said I'm not yet in menopause and my uterus was actually in great for my age lol.

Yes, could well be perimenopause. My periods are anything from 3 weeks apart to 3 months apart. I certainly know all about it when I finally have a period after a long gap - absolute bloodbath. Every time I have a long gap I hope that’s the end of it but no such luck so far! I’m 52.

Thank you all, I have been suffering with rubbish nights sleep but didn’t think anything of it and I’ve noticed my moods are off but just put that down to pmt xx
