Hi. I’m 39 and currently experiencing all menopause symptoms. Just don’t feel myself at all. I’m currently on mini pill and looking to see if I can still be tested?

i have anxiety for the fist time in my life and it’s scaring me.

I was slightly older than you when I went on hrt. I never had any tests, I went to the doctors and said these are my symptoms, I believe its peri menopausal what do you think? She said it was possible but offered me anti depressants which I refused and said I wanted to start hrt to see if things improved. They did but since then I've had to change my dose and everything a few times to get the correct thing for me. If you want to test i believe you can now buy a self testing thing for peri menopause

thank you for replying.

this is what I am about to start as they haven’t really taking me seriously. I was looking online but had read it may not be a correct reading due to my contraception? I will look into this further. Thanks again

What are your symptoms? How are your periods?

ByFastTiger · 13/03/2025 14:17

sheer panic. Irritable. Forgetful. Brain fog. Sweats. Loss of hair. Anxiety….oh the anxiety is another level. I don’t get periods due to the mini pill?

You are not too young. Our hormones start dipping from 35 onwards.

I was getting symptoms from 39 onwards, but my estrogen must have plummeted over the last year, fine wrinkles and dry skin suddenly appearing. Body losing it's shape, aw well, I also give less fucks.

I never thought I ld be one of the women that enjoy less attention, being invisible to men, because I used to love to flirt. Now I couldn't care less, think the flirting is just manipulation, I m not a pleasure machine for them. Find the whole thing a bit predatory now.

Have you got a local menopause clinic if your in the uk?
There's Info on the menopause matters website too.

There isn't a test for perimenopause, you diagnose based on symptoms. Your GP should test things like your iron levels, thyroid function, vitamin D etc to make sure that it's all in order, but hormone blood test results are useless because your levels fluctuate so much
