Is this normal?

I'm perimenopausel and on my period. This week my legs have really ached. I'm not on HRT.

It is for me. I get progressively worse aching legs the week before my period, then throbbing feet the day before my period starts.

In last few yrs, I get leg cramps if I sit still for long periods (min. 3 hrs), noticeable with a sedentary job.

I’ve suffered ever since peri. The doctors don’t know how to treat it. I’ve tried a few different drugs, currently I’m on Pramipexole, which helps a lot. I also take magnesium. Amitriptyline made it worse. I can’t have HRT.

It's so annoying.

I'll look up Pramipexole.

The joys of menapause.

Hi @LighterSpring25 Have you tried taking quinine or drinking tonic water? Which has quinine in. Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist meaning it mimics dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is a key player in regulating our moods, movement, energy levels and memory to name a few of the benefits. It’s a complex hormone but super important. So worth speaking to your gp about as you could potentially gain multiple benefits from taking it if you’re not able to take HRT.

My GP has ordered blood tests for me. She thinks I have anaemia, which is contributing to restless legs and insomnia.
