and if so, how do you get this prescribed? I am finding that after a while of twice weekly, symptoms start returning and then I have to do another loading dose. I'm on my 4th currently. When I last spoke to my GP about it, he wasn't happy increasing the frequency but was happy for me to do another loading dose. I've booked in again to explain what is happening and ask again to increase but it seems obvious to me that twice a week isn't enough if I keep getting symptoms returning and having to do loading doses again.

Any advice of what I can say to GP would be really helpful.

I was in a bad way and started on an intensive dose of taking it every night for 2 weeks. Then when I still had symptoms a few weeks later my GP told me to repeat that again. Then twice a week from there. After a period of celibacy after divorce, I have a new boyfriend and the intimacy is amazing - now that I'm having regular sex, everything seems to be good. I also found a vaginal moisturiser in the Boots pharmacy department (purple/lilac packaging) which is a tube of clear gel with an applicator really helps. I would pop a dose in every few days at first or at least on the day I knew I was seeing my boyfriend which helped to make sex really comfortable. Added benefit that he thought I was really turned on... I've read that it's important to keep the blood flow to the area and to keep sexually active either with a partner or solo. I haven't actually remembered to use the vaginal estrogen recently as I forgot I needed it -he's a very attentive partner and spends ages on me, only mentioning because regular good sex does seem to be making a huge difference to maintaining a pink healthy vagina. I'm also on HRT but the GP explained that doesn't ensure a healthy V.

I was in and out of the GP with a sore vulva and they were trying steroid creams etc. Saw gynae and he said I needed way more than twice a week as my atrophy was v bad. So I use a tube a week now, I told GP what gynae said and they increased my repeat prescription.

I don't use the applicator, I put massive blob on my finger and rub the urethra and inside and then my perineum too.

No sex at the moment as I've had a failed prolapse surgery and waiting a corrective surgery for the pain.

But my vulva and labia are pink which is better than the grey they used to be!

Vaginal oestrogen is so so safe.

For info I tried YES moisturiser gel but I disliked it. I always prefer a cream to gel and the gel gave me thrush, as does the lube every time we use it for sex.

Some women need more than the 2 x a week. Your GP should understand this.
If they don't you can buy Gina (Vagifem) over the counter, and you can also buy the cream from online pharmacies (but they are more expensive than an NHS prescription.
