How many people only get 1 month HRT at a time?

Is it a rule?
Is it by area?

It seems a bit shortsighted

Plus I can only order 7 days before it's due, which with weekends etc means even with their 3-5 working days turnaround I get it on the day I'm due to put it on whichbis frustrating

That's crazy. I get 6 months at a time which reduced to 3 months during shortages. The boxes come in a 3 month supply so the pharmacist must feel this is a real pain having to split the packs.

NoTouch · 26/02/2025 14:16

I get 8 patches (4 weeks) at a time
60 days Utrogestan at a time
1 tube of Ovestin cream (approx 20-30 doses, twice a week)

Patches I can only order 4 working days in advance. They will send to my pharmacy within 2 days and I pick up the day after. I can put a note on the repeat prescription request to say a patch fell off so I need a couple of days early (I did it once so I always have one spare patch incase of delays getting new prescription)

Ilovelowry · 26/02/2025 14:20

I get one box per repeat, plus four boxes of estriol cream per repeat. I have asked for more than one box of patches but I'm told there are still shortages!! (Evorel 100)

I don't think anyone tracks my orders particularly, though if I need them for a holiday I just put a note on to say I'm ordering early.

KatyMac · 26/02/2025 14:29

I'm on evoral conti so I wonder if it's shortage?

But one month and if there is a bank Holiday or imbunder the weather and stay home I can't get it in time

The default seems to be a month but I emailed the prescription team at my GP surgery and asked for a 2 month supply and they were happy to do that.

UnaOfStormhold · 26/02/2025 15:20

That's for Lenzetto spray btw.

Autumnlife · 26/02/2025 22:41

Mines haywire I got 9 months worth of two items on my HRT prescription, utrogestan I ordered it and got 6 months worth of it. Gel that’s either a 3 or 4 month supply I noticed a pattern and some doctors prescribe it in different quantities at my surgery.

Starlightstarbright4 · 26/02/2025 22:42

I use the gel . Always got 3 months

LostMySocks · 26/02/2025 22:43

I get 2 months. Haven't had a supply issue for ages.
It's really annoying remembering to reorder. Luckily the prepayment certificate means that this no longer hits my pocket

shivermetimbers77 · 26/02/2025 22:48

Yes mine only ever give me one month of gel which is really bloody annoying as it feels like I'm always ordering and picking up prescriptions.

KatyMac · 26/02/2025 23:06

Getting one month of something I'm likely to be on forever, makes me feel like I could die any minute and at least they'd only have wasted one month of meds

I get six months at a time but I have to have an appointment each time, they won’t give me a repeat prescription.

VeryVeryCross · 26/02/2025 23:14

My practice is giving me the run around with this kind of nonsense at the moment. It was fine till I turned 60 and now I'm having to jump through hoops

TheLurpackYears · 26/02/2025 23:15

I'm so glad I don't. I'm seriannoyed mine has been reduced from 6 to 3 months. A woman I know can only get 2 weeks at once.

TwentyKittens · 26/02/2025 23:15

I got three months each time for ten years, then last time I bought an hrt prepayment and the doc signed off six months so if that's the new norm I don't need the prepayment as it'll be the same.

KatyMac · 27/02/2025 08:06

I do wonder if there is an actual reason for it
