Menopause 101?

I'm aware of the main symptoms: hot flushes, insomnia, dry skin, a foggy mind and the rage, etc., but I'm not very clued up on HRT and when to start it. I watched Davina's documentary on menopause and my main takeaway (although I didn't finish it) is to start HRT as soon as I can whether peri has kicked in or not, am I right?

Please can anyone share their favourite menopause resources or point me to a great thread on here that covers all of the important and pertinent points? I've read the NHS webpages on menopause but understand it might be lacking so am looking for decent, authoritative content (or podcast/vlog) that is easy to digest. Thanks.

Davina is a journalist, not a doctor- her goal is to promote herself.

I don't agree with what you think she's said.
HRT is for women who have symptoms that affect quality of life to the extent they can't sleep, work, manage day to day. No GP is going to prescribe HRT on the basis of no symptoms.

The best unbiased medical source is the Women's Health Concern website which is the patient side of the British Menopause Society website.

OR find yourself a private menopause consultant and talk to them if your GP isn't much help once you start having symptoms.

Thanks for the info. I'll have a good read.
