Estradot 75 & Everol 75

Oh how I am missing my estradot 75 which has been out of supply for ages - I’ve been given everol 75 which I assume does the same thing and is in supply but wow it’s a big patch and im struggling to keep it stuck on my bum as it wrinkles up so much - just wondered if anyone else had switched and has any advice o getting them to stay on or has noticed any difference between the 2 patches - lucky I know to have options but will be glad to go back to the estradot :-)

I hate the Everol 75 so much that I’m thinking of stopping the HRT altogether
Been on Estradot about 6 years (although there was a break in supply a few years ago) fed up of people saying it’s the same as it really isn’t!

SnoozingFox · 12/02/2025 18:41

I am allergic to the glue on the Evorel, they bring me out in a very itchy rash all over my arse. I have an ever diminishing stock of Estradot and really hoping to get more soon as I just can't use the Evorel. Never had any trouble getting them to stick though.

Phial · 12/02/2025 18:46

I've had to switch to Evorel lately, due to the shortages and am surprisingly ok with it. Despite being huge it is sticking well.
Leaves a bigger gluey patch than estradot but I don't seem to be suffering any other side effects so I am happy enough.
If they ever reliably sort out the estradot supply, I probably would go back.
I was previously on gel but that stopped working totally when they changed the bottle.

SnoozingFox · 12/02/2025 20:17

Gel and I don't get on.

The SSP restriction on Estradot is supposed to expire on 18 March so I am crossing everything that I can get patches again.

DorotheaDiamond · 12/02/2025 20:19

Estradot 37.5 available get your gp to prescribe it as 2 of those !

StreetSpirit · 12/02/2025 20:34

I miss Estradot too, OP!! Evorel doesn’t stick as well, brings me out in a rash and it’s a nightmare to get the sticky black stuff off. My pharmacist is hopeful that the shortage will be over by end of March - fingers crossed…

stringbean · 12/02/2025 21:00

I didn't absorb Evorel - was dispensed it during the previous shortage of Estradot a couple of years ago - felt terrible on it. In desperation I paid for a consultation with a private specialist who took bloods and found my oestradiol levels were on the floor. Fortunately the shortage was resolved soon after and I was able to go back to Estradot, but I wouldn't touch Evorel again.

Now we have yet another Estradot shortage, so I've got Oestrogel instead, which I'm finding ok. Might stick with it if recurring shortages of Estradot are going to be a frequent occurrence in future.

AchillesHeel23 · 12/02/2025 22:43

Yes @stringbean I was thinking of changing to Oestrogel if this shortage is going to be a regular occurrence (I’m in NI so envision this could be a big future problem)
Whats your experience of the gel versus the patch?

Annonmum1974 · 13/02/2025 08:41

Thank you all - very helpful feedback and I will see if I can get the 37.5 here that’s a great idea - been on hrt patches since a total hysterectomy in my early 40s so for a few years now and it took a while for me to find the right levels and patch so really hope to see Estradot back in March though I do feel that getting hold of this has been a pain of calling pharmacies for the last couple of years - great that we have so much more awareness of perimenopause and menopause but I guess demand is now so high they can’t keep up. In the meantime, I’ll keep going with the everol and see how we go xx

Evorel did nothing for me all my symptoms came back with a bang when I was prescribed it instead of estradot. I'm on 50mg. I have found estramon or estradiol are the best substitutes for estradot. Very similar patch and I see no difference between them. Maybe request these instead of evorel when there's a estradot shortage.

Ilovelowry · 13/02/2025 09:32

I put it on my bum. I have 100mcg patch so bigger than yours. I bend slightly so my bum is taut then roll it on.

They literally never come off even at the edges and swimming with them.

Estradot seems to be back in the rest of Ireland, Achilles, I wonder if it's possible to get your prescription on this side of the border. I know some women were getting their hrt in the North from a fb group I was in, but I don't know how it works.

I couldn't get evorel but I'm loving estramon. Estradot don't work for me but they are definitely the nicest patches.

AchillesHeel23 · 13/02/2025 14:42

That’s interesting @Apileofballyhoo thank you and I’m interested in @ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend experiences as it seems to be just Everol that causes me issues so I’m wondering if you can ask for an alternative substitution for the substitution iyswim

I am in Ireland, we get prescription and go to pharmacy to get it so the pharmacy just substitutes if estradot is not available. I have let them know anything but evorel so estramon and estradiol are the ones they substitute for if estradot is not available. It might be a different system in UK

stringbean · 15/02/2025 12:45

@AchillesHeel23 - I've found the gel to be fine, and actually like the fact that I can vary the dose. I was on 75mcg patches, which is equivalent to 3 pumps of gel, but have found that I'm fine with two.

I was a bit put off by gel initially as I was first prescribed Sandrena when I started on HRT, but found it took ages to dry. I've since realised that you need to rub it in - it contradicts the advice in the package leaflet, but I saw a video from Louise Newson's website about how to apply it, and it seems to work for me and dries quickly.

Me too ,and I can't get Estradot 50.

I am allergic to Estradot too but as it is a far smaller patch it is less troublesome.
