Hi, I'm 51 and going through perimenopause, my periods can be close together or months apart ,this has been going on for a few years . For the last 6 weeks iv been spotting or having a very light period every day ,then I had a full period. I hoped that would be the end of the spotting but no it's just continuing .Has anyone else experienced this,I'd be grateful for any advice ,thanks.

Go and see your GP, it could be all sorts of things, might be a polyp or fibroid. They can send you for a scan and see what might be going on.

I'm booked in for a smear test ,but I'm worried the spotting will interfere with the results,I filled in a request to see my GP and I got a txt back to say book an appointment with the nurse for hrt .

Push back and insist on a GP appointment

Hello, my menstrual cycle was erratic for a few years and had other symptoms. Last year I decided to see my GP to find the cause and had scans. Also I was booked in for a smear test, but suddenly my period came again. My nurse was friendly and I was able to do it a week later. Sometimes you can cancel on the day, ask your Medical Centre, GP surgery.
