I have a whole load of stuff going on & can't work out if it's peri or sometime else/lots of different things or all Peri symptoms.

The main things that are bothering me right now are the sweating 'down there'. It's wet, all the time & it smells disgusting. So, I'll go to the toilet before bed, dry myself properly etc, go & get into bed (I just wear a T-shirt or long sleeved top) & I'll be able to 'smell' myself. If I put my hand down there, it's wet. It's not a normal sweat smell.

I wear pads all the time, daytime, due to urine leakage (that's been going on for years) so I think that I always put any wetness down to this, but it's not, it's also on the creases of my thighs, but all around that area.

This is horrible, but if I sit on a plastic chair & stand up, I leave a wet bit.

The second main thing is falling asleep all the time. If I sit still for a few minutes, I'll fall asleep. Just for a few seconds usually but the worst one was about 45 minutes & then I startle myself awake. This happens on the bus or at the cinema as well as if I'm sat at home.

The third one is overheating. I don't know if this counts as a hot flush but I feel a bit like when you have the flu & one minute you are freezing & then you are boiling, but it only lasts for a few minutes. I don't think that I actually 'sweat' during this, because I put my hand on my chest/face & it isn't wet, & it doesn't really feel hot, but inside I feel like I'm burning up.

TLDR : There's loads of other stuff but sweating down below, falling asleep & feeling hot all of a sudden.

With regards to the wetness - is it definitely sweat and not discharge? It sounds a little like BV to me?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 10/02/2025 06:51

See the doctor. Some of it sounds menopause related, but the discharge/wetness doesn't and I would be concerned it was an infection.

MenoPony · 10/02/2025 06:56

Thank you both. It's gross isn't it. It's not discharge so much as it's around the edges of my thighs, it's not really around the vaginal/vulva area.

I do have blood test booked but they did this a couple of years ago, told me that I was too young for peri & that it didn't show anything. That was due to erratic periods & falling asleep (which they said was normal for a busy mum) but the wetness is 'new'.

Are you washing with bar soap and wearing cotton knickers?

Calyx72 · 10/02/2025 07:06

Are you overweight? That can contribute both to sweating down there and to sleep apnoea which really does need investigation.

I get sweat down there and don't like sitting on plastic seats. I am on HRT which I think has helped a bit.

DustyLee123 · 10/02/2025 07:12

For the falling asleep, id try vitamin B complex for energy, and I’d take magnesium glycinate at night to make sure you’re getting good sleep. Do you have a good sleep routine?
If you drink I’d consider stopping as it used to make me very tired the day after, I had to have a nap.
As for sweats, I think they are very individual. A friend of mine used to go red and fan herself, but she never physically sweat.
I move around for work and carry a cushion, so if I’ve got a plastic chair I never actually sit on it. If anyone asks, hard chairs hurt my coccyx.

MenoPony · 10/02/2025 07:12

DustyLee I do wear cotton knickers but wear pads 80% of the time anyway.

Calyx72 Yes I am really worried about the sleeping thing but I was completely dismissed last time. I can't enjoy a film with my children as I have to get up & jump up & down to wake up.

I am overweight, I'm a size 14/16 & have worn the same clothes for years & although they still fit, I definitely have more of a tum.

No I don't drink, last time I had 2 glasses of wine on a night out was 2 years ago.

I over eat though. Junk food.

I like to read or do puzzle books in bed & I used to lay awake for ages but now I fall straight asleep BUT I'm up & down through the night after that, either just can't sleep or need a wee, hot, cold.

Definitely ask GP for sleep apnoea investigation. Might be worth recording yourself in your sleep to see if your breathing is being interrupted.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon.

My Progesterone & Testosterone are abnormal (& pretty much everything else was abnormal too) after blood test.

But those 2 jumped out at me. It's now kicked me off the App & I can't get back in.

I have an appointment in a few weeks time to 'discuss' but it said online 'No further action needed'.

The GP said they think that I should start on the patch that's a low dose of HRT. Try this for 2 months & see how I get on.

She was VERY dismissive & it was a frustrating phonecall. She mentioned the patch & then it felt like I had to practically beg & plead with her to actually let me try it!
