Peri-menopause Long Periods and Progesterone

Hi - for the past seven months my periods have been lasting about 14 days or more (currently on day 19 and having a heavy day).

These are usually light (but still need to use pads) with one or two days (at any point) of sudden massive cramping and flooding.

I saw GP a few months ago and have had blood tests and a scan. Scan showed small fibroids.

GP started me on three months of progesterone tablets (10mg three times a day). This would apparently "give me a break"

I have also had thyroxine increase (as am hypothyroid).

I am 44 and now having night sweats (waking every night with wet sheets and pyjamas)

The progesterone has made no difference to bleeds (have been on it continuously for five weeks and been bleeding for three of those five weeks).

Should I go back to the GP or does the progesterone take time to work?

(I am also on mirena and have been for three years).

Grateful for any advice from others who have had similar issues. Periods are still regular but just go on for two or three weeks of every month.

Are the fibroids inside the uterus (submucosal)? I had in the past, tranexamic acid, mefenamic acid, progesterone etc. didn't work. Hysteroscopic resection under GA of the relatively small fibroid made a huge difference to the volume of bleeding, still heavy but back to seven days.
