Hi I am 50, and am going through surgical menopause. I had my ovaries out early September last year. At first it was the hot flushes, a few aches and pains, itchy female region. But the past few weeks, good god I have been feeling like shite!!
The past few days my joints have been so painful. I couldn’t really move my fingers either. Today is a bit better. I’m crying all the time. My face is itchy and dry.

Does this happen? 20 weeks after surgery it’s got worse? I just thought it all happened together soon after surgery. I have no clue about menopause.

I was on venlaflaxine for the hot flushes but came of two weeks ago due to flushes coming back. Plus I couldn’t stop eating on them 😢.
Strange that all the other menopause symptoms are here when I stop the venlaflaxine.

seeing doctor next week about HRt. I have been putting it off, but the time has came.

I had a surgical menopause a year ago
Didnt have any of this. Sounds very difficult. I went on HRT straightaway. I dp have hot flushes but manageable.
My skin is definitely drier but Cetaphil moisturiser works for me.

Good luck op that sounds hard and HRT should really help with the symptoms, your body is missing its oestrogen so that does affect every single part of us.

Can I ask why you didn't go on straight away? I have a friend who making the same decision soon as her surgery is next week but she's been offered a HRT plan.

I had colon cancer which spread to my right ovary. It’s curative and I’m cancer free now.
The oncologist says I can go on HRT and my cancer wasn’t hormonal eg ovarian or breast cancer. She said it was safe.
I said I’d try different methods first, have tried a few things but they seem to stop working after a while. I’m going to give the HRT a go.
I have a twin and she’s sailing through menopause. It must be bacause mines is surgical, it makes the symptoms worse.
