Raised Testosterone

Jellycat70 · 30/01/2025 16:50

Hi , I’m currently on Everol 75 and 100mg Utrogestan.

I see a menopause Dr once a year and she usually requests hormone bloods prior to seeing me .
However yesterday I had my results back and my Testosterone is elevated at 1.7 , last year it was 1.5 . My NHS Dr has advised that I speak to my meno Dr as she doesn’t routinely do hormone bloods prior tests
Should be worried ? As the Testosterone seems to be elevating every year

Has anyone else got any advice please or have high Testosterone?

Is the utrogestan raising it?

Jellycat70 · 30/01/2025 18:04

Hi I was previously taking 200mg of Utrogestan due to spotting but I reduced it to 100mg a couple of months ago as it was making me very groggy , it seems to be ok as I’m not experiencing any spotting .

Can Utrogestan increase Testosterone? I didn’t know this

I wouldn’t worry too much, it’s only ever so slightly raised. Mine has been as high as 7.4. Taking any hormone usually has a knock on effect on other hormones.

Not sure about utrogestan but I believe estrogen can get converted into testosterone and vice versa. While your levels are I think (not a medic!) higher than most woman in (peri)menopausal years, the standard range for women of all ages goes up to 2.8 so you're well below that. Obviously best to check with medics though.

Thankyou both for your replies , I don’t understand that in 2021 it was 1.3 , 2022 1.4 it seems to keep increasing
i am seeing the Dr next week

@UnaOfStormhold @Jellycat70
i thought progesterone affects testosterone.
my estrogen is fine but testosterone was basically zero as I hadn’t been taking utrogestsn for ages as I just couldn’t tolerate it it made me feel ill after 5 days.
went private so I could try an alternative so now Cyclogest and no problems .
yet to get further blood test soon to see if testosterone has increased a bit more as even taking androfeme it was at the bottom of the scale

Have you turned into a hairy Biker?
Is your libido ok?
Are you sprouting muscles and developed an interest in Formula 1 or bought tool sets, and only watch DIY and MMA channels? <— joke….

If not I’d say you’re ok with slightly elevated testosterone from your own base line - as a pp said, you’re still well within the normal ranges.

Btw, two readings does not a trend make.

depending on time of day, muscle mass, diet, exercise etc etc, your levels can fluctuate hourly.

i wouldn’t read too much into it - I’d be very surprised if your doctor is in any way concerned.
