Should I start HRT today or wait for my period!?

I have had some great advice here. Please help me again.

I am losing confidence in my GP. I collected my HRT yesterday. She asked when I had my last period (it was last week) and said start with next period.

I had already said my periods have been irregular and unpredictable all my life. I seem to have a long cycle. I don't suffer with my periods so it's never bothered me.

I'm starting HRT because I feel so ill and want to feel better. I might have to wait 5 weeks or longer for another period. She rolled her eyes and said I can start straight away if I want, but then the HRT cycle will not be in synch with my cycle. As the HRT is a regular 4 week cycle, it will not be in synch at all anyway.

HRT seems more 'suck it and see' than science. I kinda want to start straight away if it will make me feel better.

Her face suggested that not being in synch would be bad but I don't know how that would affect me. I don't want to end up feeling worse. WWYD?

TIA

Start it straight away, your body will synch eventually
