HRT and hair loss

I was on hrt and noticed my hair drastically thinning and receding.
I went and saw a trichologist and she confirmed that yes, there are some ingredients in some hrt brands that can make hair loss worse.
I feel the need to share this info with other women as GPs seem oblivious to this.
So here's the list.
I stopped taking Evorel and my hair is recovering. ☺️

Oh my god. Thank you for this, I had no idea! I'm not on HRT for menopause but I do take Norethisterone once a day for something else. Likely this side effect is on the patient info leaflet which I will have looked at when I first started but that was years ago and I never made the connection.

Norethisterone is an 'androgenic' form of progestogen.

This means it's derived more from male-associated hormones. It can cause acne and hair loss.

You'd be better off on Utrogestan perhaps (micronised progesterone) which is body-identical (same as female hormones.)

I am about to have my mirena removed (had it for 6 months) because whilst it has stopped my periods I’m finding it causes other problems one of which is very brittle, thinning hair. The dr has given me Progesterone (made by Zentiva) to use instead. Is this likely to help? Sorry to ask questions on someone else’s thread.

This is essential information, @Elhu , thank you so much. My hair also fell out when I tried HRT, so this is something that I might look into for the future.

Thank you for this. I'm on Everol Conti. I'm going to look into this and see if I need to change to Utrogestan.
